Job Profile
    The primary responsibility of the Support Engineer is to provide post-sales Support services for a Canadian Security Product Company' customers. The Support Engineer will work in the organizations’ Client Services team and assist in the development of best practices for designing, implementing and supporting systems at customer sites. This is an opportunity for hands-on engineers to enhance and further develop their current, advanced skills in a challenging work environment with responsibility for sophisticated and complex issues on a on-going basis. The Support Engineer is required to be a self-starter who enjoys the challenges of higher-level planning and strategizing needed to make projects successful as well as the lower levels of detail work. The Support Engineer will be responsible for feeding in findings from on-site customer visits or through working on customer reported issues to the R&D team. Strong verbal communication and relationship building skills are critical to excelling in this results-driven role. The Support Engineer must be proficient in articulating complicated technical language in laymen terms. They must be capable of working independently under broad management direction as well as part of a diversified and highly talented team.
Candidate Profile
    Technical Prerequisites
    • 5+ years experience working as a Support Engineer with knowledge of TCP/IP, ICMP, IGMP and other protocols.
    • Experience in installation/configurations of Firewalls, Routers, VPN switches, IDS/IPS products is a BIG PLUS.
    • Experience with commercial or freeware security products (Firewalls, VPN, Intrusion Detection) - certification a plus
    • Experience in handling first line support calls with customers
    • Extensive understanding of routing protocols and networking fundamentals
    • Experience in installation/configurations of operating systems, web servers and application servers are required.
    • UNIX familiarity - Solaris, Linux or BSD is a plus
    • Knowledge of the latest hardware and software components and their implementation and utilization is also required.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical computer clients and other parties.
    • A Bachelors degree in computer science (or equivalent) is preferred.
    • CISSP/CISM/CISA certification preferred
    • Security audit and assessment experience preferred

    Business Skills

    • Previous experience working in large corporate environments with complex systems
    • Solid analytical skills to troubleshoot high-level, complex and technical problems
    • Significant experience in development of work and system documentation.
    • Excellent communication skills (verbal/written) one on one, small & large group presentations
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
    • Ability to learn new technologies quickly
    • MS Project helpful

    Tasks & Responsibilities

    • Take first line Support calls from Customers
    • Installation/Configuration of the organizations’ products at customer sites
    • Setting up and presenting an attack demo to customer. Training will be provided to the selected candidates
    • Integration of the security products with other third party applications/products at customer sites
    • Working with customers to resolve the reported issues
    • Design network security in new and existing networks
    • Review and provide feedback on designs from other Support Engineers
    • Implement security products including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and various other security products
    • Manage customer expectations and deliverables
    • Present educational seminars to customers on the organizations products
    • Provide on-site knowledge transfer on product/deployment for the security Products.
    • As a primary provider of security consulting to the Customer, provide security consulting and engineering services that assure a high degree of Customer satisfaction
    • Work with the R&D team and other Support Engineers based in North America
    • Other tasks as assigned by Manager.
